A beautifully bespoke beginning

Since 2007, Biscuiteers have been delivering their collections of beautifully iced biscuits from London to the world. Fully customisable and handmade, these carefully created gifts have flown off the shelves for individual, corporate and wholesale customers. 

As their business grew, Biscuiteers recognised the need for their supporting systems infrastructure to be as bespoke as their biscuit offering. From start to finish, they needed each order’s distinctive detail to be automatically carried through so that they could efficiently deliver unique gifts at higher and higher volumes.


Making it personal

Brightpearl was introduced as Biscuiteers’ new ERP, linking to customer relationship management software Salesforce. The integration was custom built, to allow the unique aspects of every single biscuit order, whether corporate or wholesale, to be fed through from Salesforce to Brightpearl.

With that information carefully collected, it could be sent to warehouse management system, Peoplevox. Detail such as unique iced messages for a biscuit were automatically sent to the warehouse, at the right time, and order dispatch returned.


Taking control of seasonality

To manage seasonal demand more effectively, custom-built forward allocation functionality in Magento. This allowed future stock to show on Biscuiteer’s online shop and customers to place pre-orders. As the pre-orders rolled in, the Biscuiteers team could efficiently manage stock against demand, eliminating seasonal wastage and understanding, ahead of time, product trends and popularity. Pre-orders were automatically allocated on receipt of the stock, making for timely-deliveries and very happy customers.

Biscuit logistics

Handling big corporate gift orders posed logistical complexity to the Biscuiteer team. Corporate orders often had multiple shipping addresses. Employers regularly requested gifts to be delivered to their employees’ home addresses – sometimes with volumes into the hundreds. A custom-built order import tool was created to allow one single ‘head-office’ order to be split into multiple staff home deliveries with separate shipping addresses. Christmas was covered.
