Social media marketing leads to rapid growth

Dan-O’s Seasoning, a Louisville based Seasoning company, is seen as a larger than life brand but it didn’t start that way. Dan-O’s went from selling in a handful of local supermarkets and trade shows to being listed in over 10,000 US retail stores in just two years. An almost 6,000% increase in retail availability. The brand exploded on TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic by offering fun recipes featuring the low sodium, zero sugar, all natural flavour-rich seasoning.

Dan-O’s has cultivated a large audience with over 3 million TikTok followers leading to its introduction to stores like Kroger’s family of brands, Walmart Supercenters, B.J.’s Wholesale club, and many more. In 2022, Dan-O’s seasoning began searching for an all-in-solution to support their business growth. That’s where we came in.

 

An explosive boom in sales 

Dan-O’s was using WooCommerce as the beating heart of their business. We integrated their WooComerce store with Brightpearl keeping Brightpearl as a single source of truth for products, pricing and inventory. Real-time availability in WooCommerce allowed Dan-O’s to make products available to customers as soon as they hit the warehouse shelves.

Dan-O’s retail sales boomed and they signed on to appear in every Walmart supercenter in America. This presented new challenges and opportunities for the brand as they joined one of the fastest-growing eCommerce platforms in the US, Walmart.com. So, the next step was to set Dan-O’s up with our Brightpearl | Walmart integration for automatic updates of products, pricing, inventory, order status and delivery details for customers. It would keep Walmart orders flowing effortlessly, without the team even having to login to their Walmart Seller Centre.

The next challenge was Dan-O’s integration of SPS Commerce. SPS commerce is used by businesses to fast-track growth by accessing retail trading partners around the globe. With some of the biggest high-street names enrolled, this offered Dan-O’s the ability to stay EDI compliant, get connected with strategic alliances, gain greater speed to market, and use a fully automated end-to-end process from order to fulfilment. By integrating SPS with Brightpearl, we ensured that as their sales volumes increased, their commercial administration didn’t.

 

A sprinkle on QuickBooks

As Dan-O’s was hitting record numbers of sales, business accounting was an area where automation and best in-class processes could really evolve the day-to-day tracking of numbers. The team was already using QuickBooks Online to manage their finances in real-time, but to streamline the process, we integrated QuickBooks with Brightpearl. This allowed the Dan-O’s team to reduce their time spent on accounting administration, revenue and pay-outs, inventory, and supplier payments – everything synced between both systems seamlessly, marrying the best-in-class retail operations platform with an accounting software loved by over 3 million companies worldwide.

Spicing up shipping

Dan-O’s also worked with the Kentucky native, eJoov, a 3PL specialising in promotional kitting who aim to deliver the best possible service to their clients. We worked to integrate eJoov’s software with Brightpearl to free Dan-O’s from manual processing. We added value by offering the ability to fully automate order workflow, including returns. Dan-O’s was able to continue scaling quickly with this integration while still maintaining a remarkable customer experience.

 

Giving CRM a lil’ kick

Dan-O’s had an amazing recipe for communications, using customer and sales data as a basis for marketing that’s quick and effective. HubSpot CRM helped Dan-O’s, and countless other businesses, generate leads, close deals, and create excellent customer experiences. By feeding data directly from Brightpearl into HubSpot, Dan-O’s was able to not only up-sell and cross-sell but build stronger relationships with their customers to guarantee brand loyalty.

Dan-O’s has already sold over 1 million bottles, but with these integrations creating one cohesive ecosystem, Dan-O’s has the resources to expand to 2 million bottles sold and beyond.
