Australian and New Zealand online furniture brand, Mocka, believes that design belongs to everyone. Starting in 2007 with nursery furniture in New Zealand, the brand has grown to deliver the best possible product for every room, at every life stage. Their collections are designed to be affordable without compromising on quality or style.
With two legal entities covering Australia and New Zealand, Mocka set-up two Brightpearl accounts to use different base currencies. From there, we integrated accounting, warehouse operations, PIM and Shopify, plus a complex, custom-built app, simplifying the ‘behind the scenes’ so Mocka could operate at full productivity.
The accounting table
Accounting was on the table first. Xero’s features are designed to make life easier for small businesses – anywhere, any time – and they certainly were for Mocka. Our integration allows the team at Mocka to keep revenue, inventory, payments and commitments in check so that they are free to focus on growing the numbers. Everyday accounting tasks are now automated, Mocka are able to see invoices, contacts and accounts online and sync their bank and financial information.
Smooth moves
Next, we turned to logistics. With Peoplevox, ambitious e-commerce brands have a scalable warehouse management system. fast-growing e-commerce brands like Mocka can scale warehouses quickly while delivering exceptional customer experience. Our Brightpearl and Peoplevox integration eliminated manual processing and enabled fully automated logistics. For the team in New Zealand, we extended the logistics automation to global logistics company, Pengelly’s.
Stock in trade
We turned our attention to sales. As a furniture retailer, pre-orders are an essential part of their operations, and, like all retailers, Mocka wanted to avoid stock-outs, keep promises, and deliver efficiently to Australia via warehouses in Melbourne and Brisbane.
So, we built an app that displays future stock on their webstore, giving customers the ability to pre-order during high demand. Those pre-orders are automatically allocated once stock arrives in the warehouse, ensuring timely deliveries and happy customers.
But, with the two warehouses 1,674 km apart, we had a complex, multi-warehouse order allocation situation to solve at the same time.
We needed to:
- Ensure items that make up a ‘bundled’ product (like a bed head and the bed frame) are never split across shipments so that they are received as a whole product by the customer.
- Always fulfil orders from the warehouse closest to the customer using postcode logic, factoring in incoming stock transfers and pre-order POs to determine whether it’s more efficient to wait for stock rather than ship from further away.
Our custom-built app did just that.
The result is lower shipping costs, a better and faster customer experience and smarter use of inventory across warehouses. Built and launched in a matter of weeks with some clever logic and hard graft, it’s already part of Mocka’s model tech stack furniture.
