In 1875, Chicago pharmacist Peter Merz opened a small drugstore on the city’s North Side. International customers flocked to Merz Apothecary to attain information, advice, have their formulas mixed and their prescriptions filled. Fast forward 147 years, packages are now shipped to customers’ homes around the world from their pioneering e-commerce site; Smallflower.com.
Smooth transitions
The Merz team are dedicated to blending Old World traditions with new technology and within the mix, conscious of maintaining the vision or character of the original Apothecary. In May 2020, they were introduced to b.solutions for the integration of their system set-up with their new ERP, Brightpearl.
While setting up Brightpearl, it was time for this cosy apothecary to hit the world’s largest omnichannel retailer, Walmart Marketplace. With their homeopathic remedies, upscale toiletries and pampering products fully integrated into Walmart, Merz Apothecary’s US sales hit a high.
Thanks to b.solutions integration with QuickBooks Desktop, revenue, inventory and payments were all kept in check and seamlessly automated as product orders rolled in.
